Our curriculum for September 2019 to July 2020

Academic year 2019-20 was very busy for us. Based on consultation with parents/carers, students and other stakeholders and with the appointment of our first Chief Executive, we explored how we might create a broader and stronger music curriculum that supports all students, existing and new. We decided to create a plan that aims to develop a wider and more critical engagement with music and one that maximises the educational outcomes of students. This plan is designed to support the organisation’s sustainability whilst advancing our social diversity, accessibility and community engagement.

Up until July 2019, our instrumental provision consisted of one-to-one tuition, Junior Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and music theory class. From September 2019, we are introducing a considerably enhanced curriculum which includes new and existing activity. The components of our new curriculum – which can be taken as part of a package or as stand-alone subjects – are:

  • One-to-one Instrumental tuition of 30 minutes (existing)
